Our seminars are led by local experts and focus on topics related to pregnancy, labor & delivery, newborns & infants, and the transition to parenthood. Sessions are typically 30 to 45 minutes long. We also have demonstrations throughout the day.

Gain insight into breastfeeding in the hospital and after discharge, initiating breastfeeding, benefits for mom and baby, debunking myths, and how your support person can help. In addition to her lactation certifications and consulting business, Dianne is also a health educator and presents for medical personnel, lactation and birth specialists, and parents, teaching prenatal breastfeeding classes. She is also an author, public speaker, and co-host of the popular breastfeeding podcast, “The Badass Breastfeeding Podcast.”

Newborn Sleep

While sleep itself is a natural process, developing healthy sleep habits is a learned skill. This seminar will provide insight and support into the role sleep plays in a healthy pregnancy and during baby’s first few months. Soda Kuczkowski will outline sleep during pregnancy, how baby’s sleep patterns change over time, and cover new guidelines for safe sleep, supporting the family sleep dynamic, and creating healthy sleep habits at home. Soda is the owner of Start with Sleep in Buffalo, NY and is also the founder of the SE+T™ Sleep Program. She is committed to addressing sleep concerns and questions by providing sleep health education through a channel of various educational components including sleep consulting + coaching, facilitation of medical sleep testing, health workshops, and community programs for both corporate wellness initiatives and school trainings. She is certified in maternity, child and adult sleep health.

In this seminar, certified childbirth educator and birth doula, Tara Withey, will share ideas for setting up the perfect birth team, ways to stay active during pregnancy, understanding your options, and creating a birth plan for labor and delivery. Tara is the co-founder of the WNY Doulas and owner of Birthing by Design, serving hundreds of families in the local area since 2010. Together with her partners, she organizes the annual Better Birth Conference in WNY and has specialized doula training in infertility, bereavement, pregnancy after loss, VBAC, spinning babies, and more.

Explore the breastfeeding possibilities shortly after birth with Polly Thoman, as she shares insight into the bonding and attachment that can happen during The Golden Hour. Learn about the hormonal shifts and imprinting processes between mom and baby and better understand how to advocate for your birth plan when the time comes. As an International Certified Lactation Consultant, Polly has over 25 years of experience in the field, both public and private practice. Polly has owned Baby’s Sweet Beginnings for over a decade and strives t to create a friendly, comfortable environment for pregnant moms and their families. She is also a Certified Emergency Medical Dispatcher and a life member of the Lancaster Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Life with a Newborn
Presented by Dr. Susan Wiepert, MD, CLC
Purely Pediatrics

Since newborns don’t come with an instruction manual, we’re bringing in Dr. Susan Wiepert for a seminar packed with information and helpful tips to help you successfully navigate the early days with your little one! Learn about basic infant care, how to read your newborn’s cues, effective feeding and sleeping techniques, and caring for yourself in the process. Dr. Sue is a pediatrician, certified lactation counselor, and the owner of Purely Pediatrics in Lewiston, NY. After seven years as a pediatric physical therapist, she attended medical school and completed a combined pediatric/physical medicine and rehabilitation residency. Dr. Sue has been working at the Pediatric and Adolescent Urgent Care of WNY as a board certified pediatrician since her graduation and opened Purely Pediatrics in March of 2017.
