Our demonstrations are designed to teach a skill that you can take home and put into practice. Demos typically last about 15 minutes, and take place on our exhibitor floor. We also have seminars throughout the day.

Music for Babies
Presented by Betty Corona
Betty’s Music Together  

This playful demonstration will illustrate how music can be integrated into your child’s daily routine, how you can support your child’s musicality, and create memories to last a lifetime. Get ideas for using music as a daily resource, see examples of fun songs and activities, learn how to use music to distract, calm, or cheer your little one up, and understand your child’s musical development and how to support it. Betty has been educating families in the joy and benefits of music making for 15 years and has been awarded the Music Together Certification Level 1 for having demonstrated outstanding achievement in teaching, musicianship, program philosophy, and parent education. Her passion and contagious enthusiasm has been shared with thousands of families in her classes at Betty’s Music Together, which has several locations in the Buffalo area. She is currently a member of the Niagara Frontier Chord Authority, an award-winning women’s a cappella barbershop chorus. In addition to her expertise as an early childhood music educator, Betty also studies voice, plays guitar and ukulele, and continues her training through ongoing workshops.

Dancing for Birth
Presented by Elizabeth Carey, CD/PCD (DONA) WNY Doulas  

Learn movements and techniques for a positive labor and birth experience in this demonstration with Elizabeth Cary.  Explore the benefits of Dancing For Birth in relation to labor comfort, progress, and optimal fetal position, and discover the top five movements and how to execute them. Elizabeth Carey is a certified birth and postpartum doula, one of the founders WNY Doulas, and a co-director. She has specialized training in the use of acupressure, essential oils, and the rebozo during pregnancy and childbirth. Elizabeth is also a certified Dancing For Birth Instructor, teaching weekly classes at The Fountain Wellness Center.

Picking the Perfect Pump
Presented by Polly Thoman, IBCLC, RLC, CLC, CBE Baby’s Sweet Beginnings  

Explore different types of breast pumps and discover how to pick a breast pump that will best fit your lifestyle and budget. In this demonstration, Polly Thoman will highlight different brands of pumps for both purchase and rent, explain the difference between them, and provide information about getting the best product for your needs and billing though medical insurance. As an International Certified Lactation Consultant, Polly has over 25 years of experience in the field, both public and private practice. Polly has owned Baby’s Sweet Beginnings for over a decade and strives t to create a friendly, comfortable environment for pregnant moms and their families. She is also a Certified Emergency Medical Dispatcher and a life member of the Lancaster Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Breastfeeding Positions

Dianne Cassidy Consulting   

Proper positioning is crucial when it comes to breastfeeding. Join Dianne for ademonstration on various holds for different positions, like cross cradle, football hold, and laid-back nursing. Get ideas for breastfeeding positions while in the hospital, learn how to position baby comfortably, and better understand the importance of positioning and how it can improve the breastfeeding experience.  In addition to her lactation certifications and consulting business, Dianne is also a health educator and presents for medical personnel, lactation and birth specialists, and parents, teaching prenatal breastfeeding classes. She is also an author, public speaker, and co-host of the popular breastfeeding podcast, “The Badass Breastfeeding Podcast.”

Rachel is an AFAA Certified Personal Trainer and the owner and gym director of the Little Gym of Williamsville. Her love of children, passion for fitness and a healthy lifestyle, and silly personality, make The Little Gym a great opportunity for her family and for the community.

Just because you’ve given birth doesn’t mean you need to give up the closeness (or convenience) that carrying your baby provides. The right baby carrier allows both wearer and baby to feel safe, secure, and comfortable, with weight evenly distributed; and just as there is not only one body type, the same goes for baby carriers. In this demonstration, buybuy BABY will explain and illustrate exactly how the parent/baby/carrier puzzle will fit together in a variety of pouches, slings, wraps, and other carriers.
